What to do if your contract expiring on 30 June is not renewed and you do not yet have a new club?
From the moment you know you are in danger of becoming unemployed from 1 July, you are obliged to do your best to prevent this from actually happening. In other words, you must make sufficient efforts to find another club (or, of course, a new employer outside football).
For its members, the VVCS, in a manner recognised by the UWV Werkbedrijf, takes some of these application obligations off their hands. If you take part in this service, the VVCS will apply on your behalf on a weekly basis. If you don’t have a new club yet, make sure you send an email to info@vvcs.nl in mid-April and include your name, initials, date of birth, address, last club, position and any coaching qualifications. The VVCS will keep you updated weekly.te.
Register with the UWV Werkbedrijf as a ‘job-seeking professional athlete’. At which office, see www.werk.nl and click on Do directly.
If you visit the UWV, make sure you have proper identification with you. Via the UWV site (www.werk.nl), you can use your digiD code to apply for your benefits in addition to registering with the UWV.
Then do not apply for benefits under the Unemployment Act. This is because you will then not be available for work. Make sure that the club informs the Sickness Benefits Act Section of the UWV in time about the fact that your contract is ending and you are not fit for work. Also contact this Sickness Act Department yourself for security purposes.
Whether it is the previous text, or whether you would like help applying for the benefit, please do not hesitate to call the VVCS office (023-5546930) or send an email to info@vvcs.nl.
