VVCS Debt relief

Debt relief foundation

The debt problem among (former) football players is increasing hand over fist. The VVCS is increasingly called upon to assist players in settling their debts. To give further shape and substance to this activity, the VVCS board has decided to set up the VVCS Schuldhulpverlening Foundation. The board of the Stichting Schuldhulpverlening VVCS is formed by: Mr. Wil van Megen (chairman), Ivo Ouwehand (secretary) and Ad Dieben (board member).

The VVCS makes manpower available to the Stichting Schuldhulpverlening VVCS free of charge. External expertise is also hired. The team of debt counsellors is formed by: Mr. Louis Everard and Marry van Koot.

What is debt assistance?

Good debt assistance consists of two components, namely the actual settlement of debts and tackling the causes that led to the debt position. A good end result, especially to prevent debts from accumulating again, is only possible if both components receive sufficient attention. This will be different for everyone, which is why a treatment plan is tailored to the individual. There is therefore a customised approach. The starting point remains that we provide the handles, but that ultimately you have to solve it yourself.

Debt relief

Debt relief is not just about settling debts. Someone with financial problems often faces other problems. Running up debts can result in poorer performance at work and relationship problems. The debtor must be prevented from entering a downward spiral. How did the problem arise and in what way should it be prevented in the future are questions that need to be answered. Only one person can prevent new debts from arising, and that is the debtor himself. Debt assistance is therefore aimed at getting the debtor back in control, and experiencing what he himself can change about his situation.

Costs of debt assistance

For VVCS members, debt assistance is free of charge. In consultation with the Contract Players Fund KNVB (CFK), players who are members of the CFK’s bridging fund can also apply for the Foundation’s debt assistance.
