Management

In the module ‘Management, understanding leadership and making choices!’ we cover the differences between an organisation, company and a business. Central to this are the concepts of management, organisation and manager. You learn to describe the process of strategic management and identify the internal and external developments of an organisation. Various management theories, styles of leadership and organisational forms are covered. We will study what task areas a manager has and how management roles can be applied. We will examine what organisational structures are and how they are created. Furthermore, we will look at how employees work together in an organisation. A lot of attention is paid to communication processes and various forms of conversation (performance interviews, progress interviews, bad-news interviews, meetings).

In an organisation, you not only have to deal with a certain organisational structure but the culture is also important. We look at both these aspects and how they interact. Logically, the subject of leadership comes next, followed by personnel management.

In it, we look at communication: various forms of conversation that you have to deal with from a management perspective are reviewed. We conclude with some general management topics such as quality, production, logistics and information management. These topics are dealt with in outline form. During the module, you develop a picture of what management entails, the importance of strategy and which leadership styles are applied. This is the starting point for the professional assignment of this module, in which you will make a management analysis of your own organisation.
