Course content
Day 1 – personal leadership
In sport, you quickly find yourself in a leadership role. You manage people and appeal to those when something is not going well. But leadership is more than that. On day 1 we look at what it takes to be an effective leader, namely to give direction to your own development.
Day 2 – situational leadership
On the second day, we will look at situational leadership; in which situations should you perhaps adapt your leadership style, or not? Here, it is important to learn how to switch gears as efficiently as possible. Especially in the hectic world of sport.
Day 3 – general communication
Communication is at the basis of your leadership. To coach your teammates well, it is important to communicate well. On the third day, we look at what this means exactly and how you can apply it in practice.
Day 4 – the coaching conversation
On the fourth day, we will look specifically at another part of communication. Namely the coaching conversation. Using a fixed structure, you learn to effectively conduct a coaching conversation. Extremely important for (future) managers, but also for athletes who want to work better together.
Day 5 – giving and addressing feedback
Giving and addressing feedback receive separate attention on the fifth day, because this is essential if you want to help others in their development. How do you give someone feedback in the right way, when and how do you address someone when something goes wrong?
Day 6 – leadership and influencing
On the last day, an expert on leadership takes you through how best to influence others as a leader.
