The management course for innovative managers and self-employed entrepreneurs

Are you entrepreneurial and want to develop yourself further as an innovative manager or self-employed person? The 2-year part-time HBO Business & Innovation programme teaches you to spot market opportunities, translate trends into new products or services and turn business strategies into practical applications. After the Business & Innovation part-time programme, you will have (further) developed into a creative, enterprising (middle) manager or self-employed entrepreneur with a solid business concept.

Learning via virtual classroom

You follow the lessons of the part-time Business & Innovation programme from home via the virtual classroom.Here you have direct and real-time contact with your teacher and fellow students.On one fixed evening a week, you will attend classes in a virtual classroom. The lectures are also recorded, so you can watch them again and again. Exams are taken at one of our locations in the Netherlands or abroad. Whether you play football in the Netherlands or abroad, Business & Innovation’s virtual classroom gives you all the flexibility you need as a professional. This makes combining football and learning a lot easier!

Flexible structure in modules

The part-time Business & Innovation programme is flexibly structured in separate modules. Each module lasts ten weeks. Most students take two to three years to complete the management programme. Are you busier for a period? No problem, just step back from the programme. If you are particularly interested in one of the themes, you can also take a separate module to expand your knowledge. Any credits you earn can always be used if you still want to do the entire programme.

Programme: themes of Business & Innovation

The part-time Business & Innovation programme consists of eight themes, grouped into modules. Innovative business models receive a lot of attention in the programme. Developing your personal skills is also a very important part of the programme. Not only applied knowledge, but also the right business skills are important prerequisites for a successful manager or entrepreneur. You complete the programme in module 8 with a thorough research and business plan.

Module 1

Theme: The market, how do I define my position?
Module 1 highlights developments in the market.Through desk and field research, you immerse yourself in interesting trends.Furthermore, you make connections between internal and external environmental factors to arrive at a business concept.

Module 2

Theme: Product or service, how do I satisfy wants and needs?
Module 2 looks at the decisions you make when developing products and or services, positioning and positioning with promotion and distribution decisions.

Module 3

Theme: Finance
After the first two modules on market and product and decisions about them, in the third module you learn how to set prices. Furthermore, this module focuses on your competences in finance. What skills in financial planning and administration do you need as an entrepreneur or the entrepreneurial manager? You gain insight into different (and new) business models.

Theme: Management
Basic concepts of management and knowledge of organisation design and management are the focus of the Management module.

Module 5

Themea: Processes
The Processes module focuses on the processes within organizations aimed at efficiency and quality improvement. You will learn to describe, set up and improve these independently.

Module 6

Theme:  Project management
Module 6 focuses on your competencies as a project manager. How do you independently set up and execute simple projects?

 Module 7

Theme:  International orientation
An entrepreneurial manager increasingly operates in a complex and international context. Companies are often multicultural and interdisciplinary in their composition. In the International Orientation module, we seek depth in this area.

Module 8

Theme: Business research and Business plan
In this concluding module, you will put the knowledge from the previous modules to use to come up with an elaborate business model and/or business plan.You will complete the part-time Business & Innovation program with a coherent and balanced report.You will work on this independently, with lecturers guiding you in the process. This concluding module can only be taken as a separate module if you have successfully completed the other 7.

Practical information

When does the training start?

Training begins annually in the first week of September.

Further study after the two-year college program

After successful completion of the program, you have the opportunity to earn your bachelor’s degree in Business & Innovation in about 2 years. Many students find this an enjoyable route, as they already have extensive experience with the program and have built up a good rhythm of studying alongside playing soccer.

Study at HBO Academy

The two-year higher vocational course Business & Innovation is offered by the VVCS Academy in collaboration with HBO Academy. One of our spearheads is the personal and intensive guidance our students receive from enthusiastic, professional teachers, even when studying in a virtual classroom.

Investment

The tuition fee for the two-year bachelor program Business & Innovation is € 3,550 per academic year. Payment in installments is possible. You will then pay your tuition fees in ten installments per academic year. The additional cost for this is four euros per term. The book fee is approximately € 900 for the entire program (this may change). Educational costs for a (future) profession are tax deductible.

Admission requirements

To be admitted to the two-year college Business & Innovation program, you must have a havo, vwo or mbo 4 diploma. If you do not have one of these diplomas and you are 21 years or older, you can take the 21+ entrance test. Intake

After your application, you will be invited for a personal intake. We will discuss your ambitions, motivation and the training in a practical sense. Together we will determine what you need in order to do the training successfully and enjoyably.
