In the Strategic Management module, we ask the question ‘How is the market environment developing and how can you anticipate this within your own organization?’
Strategic management is about managing the organizational strategy.
Managing the organizational strategy consists (according to Prof. Jan Eppink) of three related dimensions: distribution, positioning and cooperation.
With distribution, the organization answers the question ‘Where and with which products do we want to compete?’.
Positioning is about the question of how the organization wants to distinguish itself and build and maintain a competitive advantage.
With the third dimension, cooperation, the organization indicates whether it wants to compete collaboratively or independently.
These three components are discussed in a logical order in the module and help you work step by step on your module assignment in the form of an exploratory strategic analysis. If your organization is part of a large group, you will focus on the strategic level of your organizational unit or business unit in this module.
